School Supplies Needed: The start of another school year is almost here and many children will not have the supplies they need. When you are out shopping for your children, or just shopping in general, please pick up a few extra items for school, and put them in the tub located in the social hall. The supplies will be taken to the school and dispersed. Thank you in advance!!!
St. Patrick LHD Breakfast The Building and Grounds committee will be sponsoring our 4th annual LHD Breakfast on Saturday Aug 23rd from 7-10 AM. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast pastry, and coffee or juice. Come join us for breakfast and stake out your front row seat for the parade. We are also in need of bakers for breakfast pastries/cinnamon rolls and volunteers to help with the breakfast. We will have sign up after Mass Aug. 9th and 16th. We hope to see you there
Please remember to pick up your pans and dishes that are here at St.
Patrick’s. You may have brought something for a funeral or function and have
forgotten your container. Thanks!!
We are still asking for your pop cans and bottles! Please take them to the Story County Redemption Center on Lincoln Way in Nevada, and tell them they are for St. Patrick’s. We won’t have the boxes at church until later in the fall, (to avoid complications during the summer months.) Please consider helping our youth with your donation. Thank you in advance!
Reminder: St. Patrick’s parishioners, please use your Capital Campaign envelopes for your contributions to both phases of the Capital Campaign. This aides the counters to correctly identify your contribution. Thank you!!!

General News
This Weekend Sister Christine Feagan, a Sinsinawa Dominican Sister, who is the Hispanic minister at St. Mary in Marshalltown, will be with us to share some of the work that her community is doing in South and Central America, Trinidad-Tobago in the Caribbean and in Africa. This is to help us reflect on our responsibility within the universal Catholic church to support missionary work. A second collection will be taken at all the Masses the weekend of Aug. 16-17 for the Dominican missionary efforts in Central and South America. Please be as generous as you are able. Thank you!
The International Catholic Stewardship Council Conference will be held in the Midwest, October 12- 15, at Chicago. Given the close proximity, it would be a wonderful opportunity to attend. The Archdiocese has become a member of ICSC, permitting reduced rates for people of the Archdiocese when purchasing materials or when registering for ICSC events. Check out the ICSC website for registration information and a description of presentations and workshops at https://www.catholicstewardship.org. Reduced rates for early registration can be obtained through July 15, 2008. Individuals can register directly on-line and check "member". If you are planning to register, you are asked to email Lois Thilmany (DBQCDev). We will compile a list of registrants from the Archdiocese and email at a later date to help coordinate transportation. Fr. Tom Toale
