Meeting
began with cleanup of parish prayer garden and other planting areas until
rained out.

Discussion
of quotes for replacement plate cart for kitchen. The pressboard cart that
was in use fell apart. Building committee defers to Life and Growth and
Parish Council for a decision.
-
Larry
Trulin provided us with 2 bids for an Emerson “Poker Chip” Dish Dolly:
-
From
Bolton and Hay $448.55 plus shipping.
-
From
Hockenbergs $725.00 (Plus shipping?)
-
Railing
quote. Tom has received a quote for railings for both the ramp to the
community cupboard and the east social hall entrance. The quote from Steve
Fangman is $3800.00. The railing will be primed, but will require painting.
-
White house
on south side of parish property (Pratt house). Ken indicated the parish has
been approached by the owner of the house on the southwest corner of the
block about purchasing the lot with the Pratt house on it. Ken asked for
building committee input. Comments from our discussion:
o The
building committee feels that it may be wise for the parish, as a long term
view, to own the property on the southwest corner of the block that is
currently for sale. We understand that parish finances may not make that
currently feasible, however, as we look to the future and are not sure if
there will be additional parish closures/consolidations, having the ability
to grow may be wise.
o Given our
view that we may want to purchase the other property now or in the future,
we feel that we should keep the Pratt house property. Even if we don’t
purchase the corner lot at this time, selling the Pratt house lot, which
would raise the value of the corner lot for a future purchase, doesn’t seem
to us to be in our best interest.
o Having
said that, the Pratt house and lot need to be addressed. The committee
discussed several options:
-
Tear
it down, remove the foundation, and seed the lot as green space. We feel
that the parish could supply the labor for this option, but we would
need someone to remove the debris. We would also require someone to
remove the foundation and reseed the lot.
-
Fix
it up and use it to provide low income housing for a needy family. We do
not know the extent of the repairs required. This option would seem to
fit in to our mission as church. It would also require the parish to
assume the role of landlord.
-
Fix
it up to use as Harmony Closet space. We don’t know if there is enough
space for this purpose. Perhaps the community would be willing to help
offset the expense if we chose this option.
-
Meeting
adjourned with fellowship.
